Hi parents and grandparents,
The weather cooperated part of the week so we could be outside. On our rainy Wednesday the children worked on their raptors and most of them are done. Please see them in our entry way. They will be on display for a week then the children can take them home.
We played in the mud kitchen and campsite hammering and clearing the site, did outdoor map making , and ate gummy worms. Fred the farm dog helped with transitions and the children loved the responsibility of leading him.
The spring streams make for great puddles to walk in and bridges to cross. The children love observing the many signs of spring, pussy willows, song sparrows singing and yes ticks!
Speaking of ticks, please make sure your child has long pants ( even rain pants ) and boots and a hat. We spray the children but please do another tick check when they get home. The children need to wear rubber boots and socks as well. They can bring sneakers and shorts , just need to change into long pants and boots for their hikes.
We will be going out in the rain so please send your child with proper rain gear. Also apply sunscreen if your child is in the AM program. We will reapply in the pm program . If your child just does the outdoor program, please put sunscreen on them before school. This gives us more time to hike.
Our next unit ( voted on by the children) will be turtles. This will be our last unit of the year.
Happy outdoor exploring
Giovanna, Sandy and Erika
