This week we officially entered March. The month of mud, random snowstorms, rain and dare I say- the first day of SPRING!
This week we were experimenters and scientists. We introduced the Northern Lights to the students and then experimented with color in a few fun activities. They loved our experiment with baking soda and colored vinegar. Each child was able to drop pipettes of colored vinegar on a pan of baking soda. They loved observing the fizzing reaction and color blending.
We also made stained glass window hangings that will be hung in our sunny windows at school. They children loved blending the colors and seeing how the light filtered through their classroom.
Ms. Katie visited us on our rainy Friday, which everyone always loves!
In the upcoming weeks, we will be changing the "bear den" over to a "spaceship" as we will be blasting off on our adventures through outer space!
We're moving into February quickly! Where did January go?
This past week we started working on our Valentine crafts and cards. Tuesday we did some prep with heart paintings and stamping. We also made an awesome batch of "letter pretzels" where each child was able to make an edible first letter of our name that we ate for snack.
On Friday we started tying our project together and made some super cute Valentine cards for our families to bring home next week.
We will be having a little Valentine celebration this coming Tuesday where we will be baking some heart shaped muffins for snack and talking about how Valentine's day is just one day that reminds us that we should be kind and caring friends all year through. Many of you have asked what our "policy" is on Valentine giving. You are not required to bring in Valentines to hand out, but if you do, please make sure you include one for each child in our class. I will send a list through email of each child. We do suggest a "no candy" policy.
Ms. Katie will be joining us on Friday, February 16th. She is going to be exploring Frère Jacques around the world with us.
It was so nice to be back to school with a normal routine this week! Everyone settled back in nicely and was happy to see each other.
Welcome to our new class blog. This will be a place for me to post weekly and monthly newsletters, photos and announcements for the 2-Day class. I am so excited to have our own space to share our experiences in the classroom and on our many adventures together. Please stay tuned for more updates and photos!!
